MultiChannel from RGB

Is anyone willing to give a new developer a push in the right direction ?



I need to convert an RGB image into an 8 channel image. I have the code to separate based on color values ( I have a standalone program producing 8 separate bitmap files).



I just need a simple example of the basic API calls to create a new channel, assign the specific spot color %26amp; name to it and finally delete the original RGB channels



Any words of wisdom welcomed
