Text Tool is just making lines

This probably has an easy fix but for some reason whenever I use the Text tool all it does is make a solid line, no matter what character I press or text size, color, or type. If someone could tell me how to fix this is will be greatly appreciated. Thanks In advance.

Try resetting your prferencs and/or checking the current font. Did you just install some fonts

I already tried resetting and it didnt work. And yes i did just install some fonts.
